Logline: A romantic-comedy about young women pursuing paths in love and in their career outside of their tight-knit Pakistani community's expectations.

Writer's Statement: Muslims in America are rarely afforded the opportunity onscreen to explore our relationship to Islam without having to apologize for it in some way. I wrote Dropping Jackson Heights to depict the challenges I had growing up yearning to break away from my culture while simultaneously clinging to it. The series is led by several female Muslim characters, all who walk the tightrope of meeting their community's expectations while pursuing their own passions. I began writing this script in 2012 so there would be an authentic depiction of the lives my brothers and sisters had growing up in America, a depiction that is needed on television today now more than ever.
